I’m Joana Marie L. Estrella, a software engineer who enjoys turning ideas into useful digital solutions. My work focuses on building web applications and information systems that solve real problems, improve workflows, and make services more accessible to the people who use them.
I currently work as a Project Technical Specialist I at the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), where I lead and support the development of digital platforms for scholarship applications, public inquiries, institutional communication, educator programs, and national events.
My recent work includes the Junior Level Science Scholarship E-Scholarship Application System, the DOST-SEI Official Website, the DOST-SEI Scholarship Helpdesk, the Science Scholarships Website, and several program and event platforms. Beyond software development, my work also involves system planning, technical operations, troubleshooting, ICT support, workflow improvement, and coordinating the implementation of digital services.
As I continue to grow as a software engineer, I’m expanding my knowledge in cybersecurity, secure software development, cloud technologies, and solutions architecture. I’m particularly interested in understanding how systems can be designed securely from the start—from application and data security to infrastructure, architecture, and long-term reliability.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Technological University of the Philippines – Manila, graduating cum laude as a DOST-SEI RA 7687 scholar.

I build web applications and information systems that make programs, services, and public information easier to access and use. My work has supported scholarship applications, announcements, schedules, resources, and other institutional services.
My work extends beyond development and launch. I also handle testing, deployment support, maintenance, troubleshooting, updates, and improvements based on actual operational needs.
I work on the systems behind the user-facing experience, including databases, automation, notifications, and internal processes. For the DOST-SEI Scholarship Helpdesk, I helped connect the public ticketing experience with Microsoft Power Automate and SharePoint workflows.
My experience also includes kiosk systems, event technology, ICT resources, troubleshooting, and technical support for institutional and national activities. This has helped me understand how software, infrastructure, operations, and users work together in a live environment.
I believe good systems begin with understanding the right problem and creating solutions that genuinely serve the people who use them. I value thoughtful, practical work that is reliable, maintainable, and built to adapt as needs evolve.
